Just wondering if you have any info about my grandad Thomas (Tom) Aitken. He died in 1978/9 , had been a fireman and lived on Church St Failsworth.

Hi Fiona. I'm not all the way through the journals yet, but I've got a list of names to look out for so I'll add your grandad and let you know if his name pops up at any point.

In reply to Fiona's request - there is a Leading Fireman Aitkin in a press photograph taken at a fire on 23 Dec 1946 at Hulme Grammar School. Also in the 1939 Register he is living at 3 Joseph St, Failsworth but his occupation is a motor driver.
